Ocean is a deeply personal and emotionally resonant work inspired by experiences of relationships shaped by fear of intimacy and an inability to fully commit - dynamics that often leave lasting emotional scars.
Ocean is a song about the end of a relationship and the aftermath of a painful breakup, as well as the acceptance of loss, frustration, disappointment and inner emotional collapse. It captures the moment of hitting emotional rock bottom - a quiet, suspended space where grief settles and the past loosens its grip, while the future has yet to take form. Within this stillness, strength begins to accumulate, preparing the ground for renewal.
Sonically, the track mirrors it's emotional depth. The low-end bass plays a central role in shaping the atmosphere, creating a sense of weight, darkness and emotional depth - a feeling of being submerged at the bottom of the ocean. In contrast, the piano brings warmth and colour, adding emotional nuance and expression, gently illuminating the darker textures. The chorus, supported by dynamic beats, introduces a sense of movement and lift, giving Ocean an easy-going, accessible flow that makes it an easy listening experience despite its emotional intensity.
